(PCM) Confession: I own “A Mother’s Gift,” a novel co-written by Britney Spears and her mother Lynne Spears that was released in 2001.That means it was long before her 55-hour marriage, K-Fed and most certainly the shaved-head meltdown. When her career trajectory so drastically changed courses, I admit, I never expected to put another Brit-Brit book on my shelf…
Well, never say never.
While Britney is certainly busy with her music and judging this season’s crop of talent on The X Factor, the pop star is currently in talks with HarperCollins imprint It Books to pen a novel which, according to The Hollywood Reporter, would most likely be a story that incorporates elements of Britney’s real life experiences.
Her rep has stated “there are discussions, but nothing confirmed.”
The novel would take on a similar approach to “L.A. Candy,” reality star Lauren Conrad’s 2009 New York Times bestseller which was based loosely off her life about a young woman who moves to Los Angeles and becomes a star of a reality show. Jersey Shore’s Snooki tried the same thing in 2011 with “A Shore Thing,” a book about finding love on the boardwalk, but it didn’t quite work out as well.
Considering Britney’s had her fair share of ups and downs throughout her 30 years, there’s no telling what real life experiences she’d use as the main fodder for the novel, but it’s kind of fun to imagine, isn’t it? Britney’s past is one of those stranger-than-fiction tales, so it’d be interesting how that translates to actual fiction. Who knows? Maybe we’re looking at a brand-new series.
For the record, Britney also collaborated with her mom on a non-fiction book in 2000, entitled “Britney Spears’ Heart to Heart,” which didn’t just tell about her rise to fame, but the challenges facing mothers and daughters.
