You’ve probably seen the commercials for USA’s limited series event Political Animals, but we’re here to remind you one more time that you most definitely want to tune in for the unforgettable series premiere when it airs this Sunday, July 15 at 10/9c.
The six-part series will pull back the curtain on the polished façade of The Hammonds, a fictional former first-family, as they navigate the complex world of political and personal ambition.
In the pilot, we’ll see both of these sides come to play when Secretary of State Elaine Barrish agrees to have Susan Berg, a hungry DC journalist, follow her for the week of son Douglas’s engagement party in order to protect a dark family secret. It’s here that the personal and political blur beyond all comprehension as Elaine grapples with seeing her ex-husband, former president Bud Hammond, for the first time in two years and suspects her other son TJ may be in trouble. And making the stakes even higher – or perhaps just chronicling another day in the life of Elaine Hammond – a hostage crisis in Iran drives her to make a momentous decision for the future of her family and her career.
On Sunday, we’ll be treated to brilliant storytelling from acclaimed producers Greg Berlanti and Laurence Mark, incredible acting from talent Sigourney Weaver, Carla Gugino, Ellen Burstyn, Ciarán Hinds, James Wolk, Sebastian Stan and Brittany Ishibashi and, as an added bonus, limited commercial interruption.
