(PCM) Our excitement for The Next grows as the days dwindle down to the big series premiere on August 16! We got a good feel for it when we attended the live filming in Baltimore, but now we have a few more details about how the show will play out in the long-run, including what the winner will get, how the winner will be chosen and just how much America factors into it all!

The show and its superstar mentors – Gloria Estefan, John Rich, Nelly and Joe Jonas – are travelling now to Orlando, Baltimore, New York, Chicago, Dallas, and Los Angeles searching for undiscovered artists on the verge of stardom. Each city will get its own episode and once those six episodes are through, the competition moves to LA for the final three LIVE episodes: Thursday, September 27, Tuesday, October 2 and a special two-hour finale on Thursday, October 4.

Not only does the live atmosphere amp up the competition, but it also gets the viewers involved! Yes, during the live performance episodes, it’s time for more than just a city to vote for its favorite! Viewers will be able to vote online and through social media for their favorites, narrowing down the field until just one finalist is chosen as The Next!

Now what does The Next win? Well, let’s just say there’s the chance to open for one of the superstar mentors AND an Atlantic Records recording contract awaiting the winner. That sure isn’t anything to shake a stick at. These superstar mentors have huge followings ready to embrace The Next and Atlantic Records, now 64 years in operation, boasts a roster with some of the world’s most popular recording artists like Bruno Mars, Jason Mraz, Matchbox Twenty, Flo Rida and plenty more!

But it won’t be easy to win such a huge prize because the talent is sure to be just as big among the finalists. Each finalist from the local cities will converge on LA to compete for the grand prize, but what’s a competition without a little extra twist?

Even the contestants who don’t win in their home cities will still have a chance to make it to the finals! After watching the six episodes, viewers across the country will be able to vote for their favorite among the performers who didn’t make the initial cut and the contestant with the most votes will go on to compete in the finals right alongside the other six finalists. Can’t hurt to be the fan favorite, right?

After each episode, the songs performed by the artists will be available for download on all digital service providers, including iTunes and Cricket’s Muve Music. After hearing what the talent in Baltimore delivered, I couldn’t be happier to hear this. I’ll certainly want to download a few of those performances — and you definitely will, too!
