Dating games seem to be the trend for the summer (like NBC‘s Ready for Love) and now FOX will have two of them to add to your weekly line-up. We’ve already told you about Take Me Out, but now we’ll also have a new celebrity dating game show, The Choice, coming our way June 7.
The Choice, hosted by Cat Deeley, is a dating series with a twist… or should we say a spin? Just check out the promo to see what we mean:
In an attempt to show that love is really blind and that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, each episode will begin with four of the world’s most eligible bachelors sitting in rotating chairs, turning their backs on love and unable to see the sexy singles looking for a date with fame.
But we don’t have to wait to see who’ll be spinning around in those chairs! The list of celebrity bachelors is varied and promising, leaving us wondering where we were when they were doing casting calls.
Over the course of five episodes we’ll see eligible celebrities like musician Joe Jonas, model Tyson Beckford, actor Dean Cain, chef Rocco DiSpirito, Jersey Shore members Pauly D and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, American Idol winner Taylor Hicks, reality TV star Rob Kardashian, as well as other names of note like Romeo, Parker Young, Jeremy Bloom, Mike Catherwood, Jason Cook, Rob Grownkowski, Steven Lopez, Finesse Mitchell, Warren Sapp, Ndamukong Suh, Seth Wescott and Dr. Robert Nettles (who apparently is still single since the last time we saw him on Millionaire Matchmaker. If you remember him, this fact, then, probably comes as no surprise.)
For a new show right at the start, the celebrity list is fairly impressive. If you don’t know some of the names, just google them. You’ll probably recognize more than you expect.
But the bachelors aren’t the only ones who’ll be looking for love – or a really good date – this summer. There will also be a special sixth episode where some of the most famous bachelorettes will have their chance to get heads spinning when they sit in the hot seat and look for a good match of their own. Those ladies are actress Carmen Electra, model Hope Dworaczyk, Miss USA 2010 Rima Fakih and performer Sophie Monk.
In the initial “Blind Round,” each celebrity can only use his (or her) suitors’ voices and the information they share about their life, passions, turn-ons and turn-offs, to help him make the choice. If the celeb bachelor likes what he hears, he’ll pull his “love handle,” spinning his chair around to bring him face-to-face for the first time with his potential date. But if more than one guy pulls the handle, they’ll have to battle each other for her affection until the lady gets the choice to pick whose dating pool she wants to swim in.
The “Blind Round” ends when each bachelor has his three ladies and continues with the “Speed Choice” round, where each woman has only seconds to convince her leading man to sweep her off her feet to the final round.
In the final round, love is on the line when host Cat Deeley poses a challenge question to each of the team’s final two. Based on their answers, the celebrities must then make the choice between each of their two remaining ladies, whisking one away on a dream date and leaving the other in no man’s land.
We’ll be tuning in to see the hilarity that is sure to ensue on both ends of the match… or at least see what types these celebrities go for, will you?
Series Premiere of The Choice debuts Thursday, June 7 at 9 PM on FOX.
