Carolyn Hennesy is no stranger to success. Having made multiple appearances in the hit television series Cougartown, That 70′s Show and General Hospital, Hennesy has made a name for herself in the Hollywood community as a truly talented actress with a natural flair and charisma that are evident the second she walks on the screen.
Hennesy’s newest role is that of vampire Rosalyn Harris on the hit television series True Blood; a role that Hennesy herself is very excited about. “It’s the best thing ever,” she admitted with an excited laugh. “It’s tremendous! The Cougartown set was fantastic, General Hospital is a well oiled machine. But there is a sense about True Blood where I walk onto that gorgeous set…that we’re doing something kind of important. Is it curing cancer? No. Is it walking on the moon? No. But…there’s a sense of what it means to the fan. There’s just an overriding sense that we are doing something that is important to a lot of people. For whatever reason, for whatever their reasons are. So there’s a wonderful, almost whimsical sense, of gratitude about the whole thing.”
Hennesy’s character Rosalyn Harris is already creating some buzz as the new “Texas Vampire”. “Her hair has conversations with God, it’s so high,” Hennesy said when asked to describe her character. “As they say in Texas, ‘Big is just a place to start’. Rosalyn is centuries old. but discovers, I think, her true love in Texas. So she’s been there about…two hundred years, helps to settle the west. She likes a good glass of whiskey, a good class of champagne blood and a good cigar. She enjoys a good joke, a night at the opera, and cowhide chairs.”
“Rosalyn is a broad,” Hennesy continued. “In the best sense of the word. She’ll kill you as soon as look at you, but she’s very down to earth, very homespun, very folksy, but always a lady and knows that pearls go with everything.”
But what really sold Hennesy on the role was Rosalyn’s sense of humor. “Rosalyn is incredibly witty…says some wonderfully funny things. She has the best shoes and can be witty.”
Hennesy had nothing but wonderful things to say about the cast and crew alike. “The people couldn’t be nicer,” Henessy said, her excitement and gratitude evident in her voice. “The wardrobe people…dress me to perfection. Hair and make up, you can’t get better. And let’s not even talk about the writing…it’s just heaven.”
Hennesy was wary to reveal anything about Rosalyn, but did admit to her having a “secret crush”. “The writers don’t even know about it,” Hennesy said. “In my backstory, Rosalyn has a secret crush.”
In addition to her acting abilities, Carolyn Hennesy is the author of the hit teen-tween book series Pandora, an adaptation of the Greek myth of Pandora’s box. Henesy’s fun and exciting interpretation tells the story of a 13 year-old Pandora, who must collect the evils she inadvertently releases from the box. “Book six is published in June, Pandora Gets Greedy. And I’m in the middle of book seven, which is the final installment of the series,” Hennesy said. “So I’m a little sad! I’m taking a long time to write it. And they may not get it by their deadline, and I don’t care. That’s what I gotta do.”
Carolyn Hennesy possesses a charisma evident both on the page and on the screen, as well as an optimism and true love for what she does. These characteristics only aid her in becoming one of Hollywood’s most in demand women.
