I’ll admit: Caleb is one of my absolute favorite characters on Pretty Little Liars, so sitting on an hour-long conference call with actor Tyler Blackburn was about as exciting as a new episode of the show!
You can look for the full interview transcript later, but there were a few things that were too great not to share right away!
For one, when we asked about any potentially surprising pairings for Caleb in the episodes leading up to the finale (not romantically, because, hello, Team Haleb!, but just in general), he said the question was spot on… because he will! He said there is someone who Caleb is going to have to help that he really doesn’t want to. So, who do you think it could be? Jenna? Garrett? Kate?
Speaking of “Team Haleb,” Tyler even said those words aloud and revealed that there will be an episode with a masquerade ball where Hanna and Caleb will be a play on Romeo and Juliet.
And after next week’s thrilling episode where A specifically targets Caleb, things slow down a little bit and the storyline for him focuses back more on Caleb and Hanna and their relationship.
He did say, though, that there won’t be too much on-screen bromance between Caleb and Lucas this season.
Here’s a few other highlights from the call:
- He does enjoy watching the show and watching his work, but sometimes he does think to himself, “uh, don’t ever make that face again.”
- He does know who A is and when he found it he “kind of got, like, giddy.”
- When asked about dream celebrity guest star, he jokingly said “Maybe Dustin Hoffman is A.”
- On the season finale, he said that the excitement and momentum of the scene from season 1 when Ian is hanging from the tower is “just a fracture of what goes on in the finale.”
And some aspects about the adorable Tyler himself:
- What is he watching on TV? None other than the “really juicy” Revenge! He even said he remembers years ago watching Emily Van Camp on Everwood. (We are so happy that someone else remembers her from that great show!)
– What else is he watching on TV? Food Network and the Discovery Channel. He mentioned “Man vs. Wild” specifically and how he would love to go out in the wild with Bear Grylls.
- While describe what he does in his free time, he admitted “I’m not boring, but I’m mellow.”
- When he was trying to describe why Caleb has become such a fan favorite, he laughed and admitted “It’s weird to call myself eye candy.”
- And perhaps we saved the best tidbit for last, ladies! He’ll be spending his Valentine’s Day in Europe just traveling the world and told us all, “I don’t have a Valentine or anything like that.”
