Impractical Jokers premieres Thursday, December 15,
with back-to-back episodes at 10 and 10:30 PM on truTV.

The tagline for truTV’s newest series Impractical Jokers is “Actual friends. Actual dares. Actually funny.”  Now, while we think the four leading men of this reality program, best friends Sal, Murr, Q and Joe, are actually daring one another, we know for an absolute fact that this show is actually funny.

While other shows are wrapping up for their winter hiatus, this series is going to become your television savior. Not only are the guys undeniably likeable (to the point where I imagine we all may want to proclaim our favorites to one another despite how difficult it may be to choose – Team Joe, for the win!), but your sides may actually split from laughter as these four complete unbelievably awkward and outrageous hidden-camera dares.

I watched the premiere episode as soon as we got it in and I rewatched it just before writing this up and none of the laughs are lost. It doesn’t get old! Whether it’s Q freezing for 51 seconds while holding a customer’s money in the air while he tries to get a tip for his time spent behind the register at White Castle or Joe touching every customer that he rings out of the food store with his nose, I guarantee that you will laugh. (My co-worker called me out saying “That’s a face!” to my stifled laughter here in the office while watching the pilot for a second time.)

Whether the guys are trying to get a tip from a customer, getting signatures for a ridiculous cause or simply doing what they are told by the other three in their ear, the challenges ensure hysterics.  Between the reactions each guy has when he hears what he must do to the non-stop laughter in their ear from their friends and definitely from the reactions of those innocent victims who are on the other end of these impractical jokes, there is never a dull moment. You may cringe, but it will be immediately followed by a laugh of disbelief, amazement and pure enjoyment.

At the end of each episode, whoever loses the most challenges has to fulfill a punishment: the most mortifying challenge ever. And for the loser of this premiere episode, who turns out to be both a dog-lover and a germaphobe, picking up dog poop in a dog park for twenty seconds is certainly mortifying… and really really funny.

This is an absolute must-watch. It’s not often that a series can make you laugh from start to finish, but when it comes to Sal, Murr, Q and Joe… they win that challenge with flying colors!

I couldn’t be more excited at the fact that we get not one but two episodes chock full of the most ridiculous public dares imaginable and after you see the premiere episode, you’ll be happy there’s another one coming your way too! Mark this date down, set your DVRs, change your plans, do whatever it takes to catch this premiere. You won’t regret it.

  1. Dana says:

Do the impracticle jokers tell their victims they were participating in a joke after they’ve been involved?

  2. Allison says:

They do! Sal & Murr told us most of the people end up laughing after the find out what’s going on, but some of them… aren’t so amused. You can see exactly what they said in the interview here.
