Pass the sunscreen, Shark Week is finally upon us! That’s right, Discovery Channel’s epic Shark Week 2011 kicks off this Sunday, July 31 at 9 PM with two fantastic episodes and we’ve got sneak peeks of each to tide you over until Sunday!

The first hour is the “Great White Invasion.” From South Africa to Australia to California, increasing numbers of Great White Sharks are being found swimming alarmingly close to surfers and vacationers. But why? Why are they lingering in such shallow waters? Tune in as Chris Fallows and an international team of shark scientists explore the possible causes behind this shocking trend. They come up with some intriguing results!

And at 10 PM, be sure to stay tuned for “Jaw Comes Home” that documents shark expert and U.S. Fisheries scientist, Greg Skomal, as he tracks several Great Whites, affectionately known as Curly and Ruthless, over six months. Curly and Ruthless have recently taken a 1,200 mile journey up and down the eastern seaboard, so this is Skomal’s attempt to understand more about the sharks’ voyage.

Want to brush up on your shark knowledge before the big day? Well, here’s your chance with some fun shark trivia!
