CBSNews.com is the fastest-growing network news site in video streams and minutes year-over-year, according to comScore VideoMetrix (January 2011). The latest numbers show CBSNews.com growing faster than network news site competitors ABCNews.com, Foxnews.com and MSNBC.com in video streams and minutes spent watching video.
CBSNews.com posted year-over-year gains in total video streams (94%) and minutes spent watching video on the site (457%), as well as month-over-month increases in unique viewers (12%), total video streams (24%) and minutes spent watching video on the site (70%). In addition, CBSNews.com posted a 16% year-over-year increase in unique monthly visitors, according to comScore MediaMetrix data (January 2011).
The growth at CBSNews.com has been driven by a considerable investment in creating original content for the site, including the launch of the Web show, 60MinutesOvertime.com. Since the start of the 2010/2011 season, 60MinutesOvertime.com unique users have grown 40% and page views have grown 45%, year-over-year season-to-date (Source: CBSNews.com Internal Data). The new site, featuring Web-only 60 MINUTES content, was just named a winner of a Gracie Allen Award from The Alliance for Women in Media for a feature on 60 MINUTES Associate Producer Magalie Laguerre reporting on mass deaths in Haiti.
